CYCLOCROSS SEASON IN NEW HAMPSHIRE

Interested in Cross?  There are lots of great opportunities in New Hampshire to both develop your skills and race.  Check back for updates, as there will be a lot more added to the calendar.  Here is the current list:

Cyclocross Training Opportunities (Practice Courses/Training Races):

Goodale's (Concord, New Hampshire) - Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m. and Sundays at 3:00 p.m.  Come check out Goodale's new 1 kilometer practice loop featuring a five foot run up.  The loop is located next to its store in Concord, New Hampshire.  It will be open every Wednesday (starting at 6 pm) and Sunday (starting at 3 pm).  All this for FREE (you will just need to complete a waiver)!

Kingman Farm (Dover, New Hampshire) - Wednesdays at 5:00 p.m. (B Race) or 5:35 p.m. (A Race) (begins mid-September until October).  The University of New Hampshire cycling team hosts the Kingman Farm Cyclocross Training Series for five weeks of racing beginning in mid-September. The "B" race is 30 minutes, and the "A" race is 45 minutes.  Everybody is encouraged to participate, and mountain bikes are welcome. Entry fees are only $5, and an extra race is $3. All proceeds go to the UNH cycling team! Visit the UNH blog for more information, or contact Stephanie White at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.  Northeast Velodrome and Cycling Park (Londonderry, NH) - Thursdays at 5:30 p.m. sharp (begins September 15th until mid-October)  Come challenge yourself by racing in Londonderry at the Northeast Velodrome and Cycling Park's cyclocross course.  Increase your skills by hopping over barriers, riding single track through the woods and working on the run ups.  All that for just $10 and a signed waiver.  For more information, contact Kurt Begemann at 781-462-5633 or check out the website at http://northeastvelo.com/

Cyclocross Races:

Cyclocross at White Park (Concord, New Hampshire) - Saturday, September 24, 2011.   The course will be fast with lots of turns, covering all of the park. A memorable (rad) run up sure to smash your legs into submission with every lap. Easy parking, great setting and tons of stuff to do in town with the family.  For information about the race and registration, check out bikereg.com.

Sucker Brook 'Cross (Auburn, New Hampshire) - Sunday, September 25, 2011.  Come join Blue Steel Cyclery's annual cross race in Auburn, New Hampshire.  This year's race will feature the same fun filled course.  Not only can you participate in some good racing, but you can feel good about it too.  All proceeds benefit an Auburn, New Hampshire resident who is battling cancer.  For information about the race and registration, check out bikereg.com.

Orchard Cross at Applecrest Farm/New Hampshire Cyclocross Championships (Applecrest Farm, Hampton Falls, New Hampshire) - Sunday, October 30, 2011.  This year features yet another new and unbelievable course, and thankfully, Applecrest Farm has opened their arms once again to the event. The course at Applecrest will be a mix of dirt roads and grassy fields.  It will include one set of barriers and a forced run up. The course will also feature a long off camber decent and meander in and out of the apple orchards.  Most importantly, don't foget to join the costume race (see above photo).  The race will have a men's and women's open class with prizes being awarded to the top three best costumes. The costume course will be shorter version of the main race course. You may ride any bike you want (mtb, cross bike, unicycle, tandem, those 18th century big wheel bikes), but you must be in costume.  But wait, that isn't it!  The race also features the New Hampshire Cyclocross Championships!  The top three New Hampshire residents will receive medals and a special prize for the winners crowning them state champions.  For information about the race and registration, check out bikereg.com

Northeast Velo Cross (Northeast Velodrome and Cycling Park, Londonderry, NH) - Sunday, November 19, 2011. Back by popular demand is the Northeast Velo Cross in Londonderry at the Northeast Velodrome and Cycling Park. A great course that has something for everybody -- all of the usual stuff, plus some fun single track in the woods and even a BMX course!  For more information about registration, check out bikereg.com
